BREAKING NEWS!!!!
PAY PAL TO INTRODUCE A CHEAPER WAY FOR BUSINESSES
TO HANDLE ONLINE TRANSACTIONS LESS THAN $10. USD!!
Article in the TORONTO STAR March 17, 2010: Pay Pal Inc, the payment processor owned by eBay Inc, plans to introduce a cheaper way for businesses to handle online transactions that are less than $10 USD. Pay Pal will let companies accumulate so-called "micro-payments" until a certain volume is reached, at which point Pay Pal will charge merchants a SINGLE PROCESSING FEE!! This new plan is slated to roll out later this year. Currently, fees make up a high percentage of the value of small transactions, reducing profit. Changing this fee structure will let merchants sell these low-priced goods more profitably. Pay Pal is still finalizing the development of this new business model. Pay Pal's current standard fee for processing a transaction is about 3 percent PLUS a flat rate of .30 cents. For transactions less than $10 it charges 5 percent plus .05 cents. Under the new aggregation model, Pay Pal would not charge the merchant until consumers bought a certain number of low value items, thereby reducing the percentage of the transaction the merchant is charged. Details are still being worked out on how many goods must be purchased before it charges the merchant and how long it will give the merchant to aggregate purchases before a fee is levied. By reducing the cost of micro-transactions for businesses, Pay Pal aims to help the market expand more quickly by making these transactions more attractive. STAY TUNED!!
What this FORMAT CHANGE means to Buyers
February 10, 2010
Buyers will now get a GREATER selection to choose from in their product searches!! All items in an eBay sellers store will also display along with auctions. Buyers will have a bit of a learning curve to understand how to narrow a search if thousands of items show up on their initial inquiry. Keywords are "key" to narrow a search. Greater variety will mean more bargains!
